When you share an invoice via an online link, your client can also see the payment history directly in their view of the document - including partial payments and the remaining balance. This is updated in real time.
How status tracking works - and its limits
Billdu tracks document status automatically, but there are some things it cannot detect:
Status changes to Sent when you send or share using the Send button in Billdu.
Status changes to Viewed when your client opens the email or the online link.
Status will not change to Viewed if you send the invoice using your own mail app outside Billdu - the tracking pixel is not included.
Status will not change to Viewed if your client only opens the PDF file attachment.
Status changes to Sent (not Viewed) when you export a document as a PDF or use mass export.
Limitation: Viewed status relies on email tracking pixels. Some email clients block these by default, which means the status may stay as Sent even when your client has opened the email.
Tip: To get a full payment overview across all clients, go to Reports in the mobile app or check the Statistics section on the website.
