How Billdu's outgoing email works

This article explains how emails are sent from Billdu on both the mobile app and the website, and what your client receives.

Mobile app

The mobile app sends documents using your phone's own mail app. This means:

  • Emails are sent from whatever email address you have set as the default on your device

  • Sent emails appear in your mail app's Sent folder

  • The email contains an online link to your document - not a PDF by default

When your client opens the link, they see a clean online view of the document where they can download it as a PDF, pay it online (if Stripe is enabled), view bank details, or accept an estimate or quote.

To also send the document as a PDF attachment, go to Settings - Client communication - Email settings and enable Attach document as PDF.

Website

The website sends documents from Billdu's own mailing server. Emails are delivered from invoices@mail.billdu.com with your business name shown in front. Any replies from your client are automatically routed to your Billdu account email address.

Using Billdu's server from the mobile app

If you prefer not to use your phone's mail app, you can switch to Billdu's server on mobile, too. Go to Settings - Client communication - Email settings and turn off Send with iOS mail or Send with mail app. Emails will then be sent from invoices@mail.billdu.com with your business name displayed, and replies will be routed to your account email.
