Share a payment link with a client

This article explains how to share an online link to your invoice with a client - via any app, messaging platform, or by copying the link manually.

What is an online link?

When you share an invoice as a link, your client opens a clean online view of the document directly in their browser. No app or account required on their end.

From the online document, your client can:

  • View the most important invoice details at a glance

  • Download the invoice as a PDF

  • Pay online immediately - via card, Apple Pay, Google Pay, or bank transfer (if Stripe is enabled on your account)

  • View payment history, including any partial payments already made

  • Accept an estimate or quote directly in the document

  • Download a payment receipt or confirmation after paying

If you created an invoice from an estimate, both documents are accessible in the same online view.

Share a link - mobile app

  • Open the invoice from Documents - Invoices

  • Tap Send, then choose Other

  • Billdu opens your device's sharing menu and shows all compatible apps

  • Select the app you want to use - for example WhatsApp, Messages, Messenger, or any other

  • A new message is created with a default text and the online link already included

  • Edit the message text if needed and send it

Share a link - website

Option 1 - from the invoice list:

  • Go to Documents - Invoices

  • Click ... next to the invoice you want to share

  • Select Copy online link

  • A confirmation message appears: "Online link has been successfully copied"

  • Paste the link anywhere using Ctrl+V (Windows) or Command+V (Mac) - into an email, Slack, Messenger, or any other app

Option 2 - from the invoice preview:

  • Open the invoice to see its preview

  • Click the link icon at the top of the preview

  • The link is copied to your clipboard - paste it wherever you need

Share a link via email

When you email an invoice from the mobile app, Billdu automatically sends an online link to the document - not a PDF attachment. Your client clicks the link to open the invoice in their browser.

  • To also attach a PDF, go to Settings - Client communication - Email settings and enable Attach document as PDF

  • Emails are sent from your phone's native mail app by default (iOS or Android)

  • To use Billdu's mail server instead, go to Settings - Client communication - Email settings and turn off Send with iOS mail or Send with mail app - emails will then be sent from invoices@mail.billdu.com with your business name displayed

Note: To allow clients to pay directly from the online link, make sure Stripe is connected and enabled in Settings - Payment options. Without this, the payment button will not appear.
