The Peppol network explained

What Peppol is, how it works, and what a Peppol ID and Access Point are

Peppol (Pan-European Public Procurement On-Line) is a standardized international network for exchanging structured electronic business documents. In Belgium, the Peppol authority is BOSA (Federal Public Service Policy and Support).

How does Peppol work?

Peppol uses a 4-corner model: Sender - Access Point - Peppol Network - Access Point - Receiver. Neither sender nor receiver connects to Peppol directly - both use certified Access Point providers as gateways.

What is a Peppol ID?

A Peppol ID is your company's unique "address" on the Peppol network. In Belgium, it is based on your CBE number (Crossroads Bank for Enterprises) with the prefix 0208. Example: 0208:0999888777. The CBE number must be exactly 10 digits. Companies can be found via the Peppol Directory, the network's public registry.

What is a Peppol Access Point?

A certified service provider that acts as your gateway to the Peppol network. You cannot connect to Peppol directly. Belgium has multiple accredited providers, including the free open-source option Let's Peppol (operated by non-profit BARGE vzw) for SMEs.

Billdu integrates with B2B Router as its Peppol Access Point for sending e-invoices.

Note: Each company can only have one active Peppol registration at a time. If you're already registered through another provider, you'll need to transfer your registration before activating e-invoicing in Billdu.
