Create a tax invoice

In some countries, VAT-registered businesses are legally required to label their invoices as "Tax invoice." Billdu adds this label automatically when your account is set up correctly.

Enable the Tax invoice label

  • Go to Settings - Business details

  • In the Identification section, set your company type to Invoices with VAT

  • Save your settings

The label Tax invoice will now appear on all new invoices you create.

This is enabled automatically for businesses in the following countries: the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, Ireland, Australia, South Africa, and New Zealand.

Make sure VAT appears on your invoices

  • Go to Settings - VAT settings

  • Confirm that Apply tax on invoices is switched on

  • Set your VAT rates as needed (up to 3 rates)

  • Click Save

When adding items to an invoice, select the applicable VAT rate per line item. Billdu calculates the VAT amount and total automatically.

Note: The Tax invoice label and VAT settings only take effect on documents created after the settings are saved. Previously created documents are not updated.
