How VAT works in Billdu

Billdu lets you set up VAT (or another tax) for your invoices, estimates, and other documents. Here's how to configure it and apply it to your business.

Where to find your tax settings

  • Go to Settings, then open your tax settings (shown as VAT settings in most countries).

  • Billdu sets your tax label and rate automatically based on your business location when you sign up.

  • You can change both at any time.

Setting your tax rates

  • Add up to 3 custom tax rates to use on your documents and items.

  • A 0% rate is always available, even if you add other rates.

  • Rename the tax label if "VAT" isn't the right term for your country.

Applying tax to your documents

  • Turn on Apply tax on invoices to show tax on all future invoices and in your statistics.

  • You can also set or change the tax rate while creating an item, right from your first invoice.

Updating products and services

Changing your tax settings won't update items you've already saved. To apply a new rate to them:

  • Update each item one by one, or

  • Use the import feature to overwrite existing items with new values.

Tip: For tax to appear on your documents at all, set your company type to VAT Payer (or Invoices with VAT) under Settings > Business details.
