Invoice
A standard billing document issued to a client for payment. Invoices are tax and commercial documents, appear in your statistics and balance, and can be marked as paid. You can create invoices from scratch or convert them from other document types.
Quote / Estimate
Used before work begins to indicate expected costs to a client. A quote represents a fixed price commitment; an estimate is a solid approximation. Neither has a Pay Now button, and payments cannot be added directly. Once a quote is accepted by the client, it can be converted into an invoice.
Pro-forma invoice
A preliminary document sent before work is completed or payment is due. A pro-forma is not a tax document and is not recorded in your bookkeeping - no tax appears in the total line (though it can be shown per line item). You can accept full or partial payments on a pro-forma, and you can create an invoice or delivery note from it.
Credit note
Issued to a client in case of a refund or correction. A credit note is a tax and commercial document. It uses the same numbering sequence as invoices, carries a negative amount, and affects your business balance, statistics, and client statements. It can be created from an existing invoice or from scratch on the website.
Delivery note
Accompanies shipped goods. A delivery note shows only item description, quantity, and unit - no prices or taxes are included. It can be created from most other document types, but you cannot create invoices or quotes from a delivery note. If you need both a delivery note and an invoice, use a purchase order as the starting point.
Purchase order
Used by shops and businesses to track incoming orders from clients. Purchase orders can be converted into invoices and delivery notes. They are available in the Inventory, Orders & Store app.
