Card payments - basics

Setting up and cancelling of online payments - Pay Now button, Stripe

Updated this week

Your clients can pay invoices online by credit/debit cards. The payment is handled a 3rd party service, so-called payment processor. We use the service of Stripe.

This service allows you to accept card payments through invoices you send to your customers.

The payment processor enables, declines, or refunds the payments.
(not Billdu)

You need an account at Stripe to receive payments. If you don't have an account, Billdu will help you to create one.

Payments with Stripe

  • Notifications appear once a payment has been made. You will receive a push-message on your mobile device, in the Notification center on the website

  • You will see an entry in the document history

  • The invoice is automatically marked as paid

  • Transaction fees apply - take a look here

  • Once the Stripe integration is complete, a "Pay with Stripe" button is added to your invoices, enabling clients to make payments directly.

Activate Stripe payments at Settings - Payment options - Stripe payments. You can either create an account at Stripe or you can use an existing one. It will connect to your Billdu account at the end of the process. Find a more detailed description here.

Additional Troubleshooting Tips

If you encounter issues with payments despite completing setup and verification steps, try the following:

  • Review specific invoices for discrepancies or missing payment options.

  • Double-check all relevant settings in both Billdu and Stripe.

  • If the issue persists, contact Billdu support with relevant details for further investigation.

Troubleshooting Stripe Payments

If the "Pay with Stripe" button is not showing up on your invoices, check the following:

  1. Stripe Account Setup: Ensure that all the steps in your Stripe account setup process are fully completed. Incomplete setup will prevent the payment option from appearing. Log into your Stripe account and verify the setup status.

  2. Invoice Settings: Verify that online payments are enabled in your Billdu invoice settings. Go to Settings → Online Payments to check whether Stripe is connected and authorized.

  3. Invoice Configuration: Ensure your invoices include a payment button and are set up to allow online payments during creation.

  4. Stripe Account Restrictions: Confirm that there are no restrictions or unresolved verification issues on your Stripe account. To enable Stripe payments on your invoices, follow these steps:

  5. Navigate to Settings → Payment Options → Stripe in your Billdu account.

  6. Follow the on-screen instructions to connect your Stripe account. Ensure you complete all the steps required to set up your Stripe profile. Once your Stripe account is successfully connected, the "Pay with Stripe" button will appear on your invoices. This enables your clients to make online payments conveniently.

How to cancel online payments

Navigate to Settings - Payment options - Stripe. Click on the green switch - it turns gray. From now on, the online payment option won't be visible on your online invoices.
You can still log in to your Stripe account and manage your payments.
