PDF looks wrong or won't open

You downloaded or received a Billdu invoice as a PDF, but it looks broken, displays incorrectly, or won't open at all. This article covers the most common causes and how to fix them.

Most common reasons a PDF looks wrong or won't open

  • The PDF was opened in a browser instead of a dedicated PDF viewer - browsers sometimes display PDFs incorrectly

  • The PDF viewer or app on your device is outdated

  • The file did not download completely - the download was interrupted

  • The invoice contains a logo or image that is too large or in an unsupported format

  • Your browser is Internet Explorer - Billdu does not support Internet Explorer

How to fix a PDF that won't open

  • Download the PDF again - the previous download may have been incomplete

  • Open the PDF in a dedicated app instead of a browser - use Adobe Acrobat Reader, Preview (Mac), or the built-in PDF viewer on your device

  • Try a different browser - Chrome or Firefox are recommended for the best experience on both Mac and PC

  • Make sure your PDF viewer is up to date

How to fix a PDF that looks wrong

  • Open the PDF in Adobe Acrobat Reader or your device's built-in PDF viewer instead of a browser tab

  • If the layout looks stretched or misaligned, the issue is usually the PDF viewer - switching apps fixes it in most cases

  • If your logo appears distorted on the invoice, check the logo file: use JPG or PNG format, with a recommended resolution of 600x400px and a maximum file size of 2MB

  • If text or fields are missing, check your template settings under Settings - Template design and settings to make sure the required fields are enabled

Printing a PDF that looks wrong

  • Do not print directly from a browser - download the PDF first, then open it in a PDF viewer and print from there

  • If colors look faded or incorrect when printing, this is usually a printer or printer driver issue - check your printer settings

On mobile

  • Open the PDF with your device's built-in PDF viewer or a dedicated app such as Adobe Acrobat

  • If the file won't open, delete it and download it again from the invoice in Billdu

Tip: If the issue only affects one specific invoice, try duplicating it, saving the duplicate, and downloading the PDF from the new copy.
